Click the Windows Logo on the bottom left of your screen.
Type the words "Close the lid"

- An option will pop up that has a battery and plug.  Click that.

Make sure the settings match the image below.

What does this mean?  When your laptop is on battery, closing your lid will tell the laptop to go to hibernation or sleep mode to conserve battery life.     When the laptop is plugged in, hibernation isn't necessary to conserve battery.   So have it "Do Nothing" to allow for you to have it closed and stored, however remain operational.

Another reason this is handy is if you are using dual monitors.  Sometimes video cards on laptops only support up to two monitors, and if you have the laptop open, it will duplicate the screen on the laptop screen vs allow for true dual monitors. (Leaving the laptop pointless to have open and at risk for spills or damage and take up desk space.
