On Public WiFi or Hotel WiFi -  Outlook, Slack, Teams not working?  But Internet is working ok?

Then it is more than likely the wifi you are on.    Hotel WiFi is considered "public WiFi".

Often times hotels and other public WiFi block all traffic in/out to protect their network, other than basic internet traffic.  (PORT 80)

Items like Outlook, Slack, Teams…  and many other programs utilize specific ports to do data transactions through the internet and can often times not work properly when you are signed into hotel or public WiFi.

To verify this, use the hotspot on your phone.
Activate your hotspot, and sign into the WiFi your phone creates.
See if your connection is restored on those programs.  If they are, we have established it’s the hotel/public wifi blocking those specific ports required for those programs.

Some public WiFi (hotels or conferences) offer paid WiFi.  This is a less “locked down” version as they now have your Name, IP address, and Card Number in case any malicious acts are made by the WiFi user.  (Please be careful when doing this and make sure that the WiFi you are connecting to is legitimate.  Ask the hotel/public location if you have any doubts. )   The end result should hopefully be that it opens up ports to be used by programs such as Outlook, Teams, and Slack.
